Customize Columns

This window allows you to customize the columns that are displayed in your Result List. There are 19 columns you can choose from. To utilize:

  1. Select View > Customize Columns, the column picker dialog will display.
  2. The column picker will have the currently selected columns checked, you can show/hide a column by checking the box next to the name. Available columns are as follows:
    • Flag
      Denotes if the document is flagged.
    • Name
      The filename portion of the document file name (excluding folder name).
    • In Folder
      The folder in which the document resides (excluding file name).
    • Title
      The title of the document.
    • Relevance
      Calculated relevance ranking displayed as a column. The longer the column, the greater the perceived relevance.
    • Hits
      Displays the number of times your search terms are found in each document
    • Category
      The category automatically assigned to the document.
    • Path
      The file name as recorded in the index. If the index records the file name using relative notation, then that will be reflected here.
    • Word Count
      The total number of words in the document.
    • Relevance Number
      The relevance shown as a numeric quantity instead of a graphical representation.
    • Last Modified
      The date and time at which the document was last changed, as recorded in the index.
    • Format
      The file type represented shown in numeric form.
    • Type
      The document file type (Word, HTML, etc).
    • Document number
      Displays as DocNo. This is the number that Perceptive Search has assigned to the document during the indexing process.
    • Size
      The size of the document, in bytes.
    • Filename
      The full file name, including file name, file path and disk drive or network UNC specification.
    • Date indexed
      When the document was last indexed in the database; date and time.
    • First date
      The first recognizable date that Perceptive Search finds in each document. Where no date is found, the column will display "Unavailable".
    • Annotations
      Denotes if the document has an Annotation.

    • Relevance Color
      Choose the color with which to display relevant documents in the search results window. The colored box displays the currently selected color.
    • Click in the check box beside each field to select or de-select it. Alternatively, select a field and use the Show or Hide buttons to select or de-select them accordingly. Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to change the order of display - this controls the order in which the columns are displayed in the Result List.
  3. Click OK when you are finished. The standard display will immediately change to reflect your new choices.
